SMAL Marketing HQ: A Tour Of My Office
Welcome to my mothership! This is where all of my work for SMAL Marketing happens. This spot took shape over a couple of years to get it just the way I want it, and I’m sure I’ll keep making changes. But for now, take a tour and let me know what you think of my work zone.
When I put this room together, I knew I needed plenty of space to spread out at a desk, and most importantly a big cozy chair that fits me AND the dog :) The chair came from Home Goods (Magnolia brand), and the cushion is an old favorite from Ikea. Most of the other items are linked below the photos. I didn’t always plan for a “pink and green” scheme but it happened naturally when I found the rug first, the curtains second, and wanted to avoid a total pink overhaul with a second color. I ended up choosing this calming eucalyptus paint for an accent wall because let’s face it - sitting in a beige room all day just wasn’t inspiring. The room is visible from the entryway of our house, so it’s fun to peek back and see some bold colors. I get a lot done in here!
There are a couple of items here that were brought to life with a crafty side. The small white side table was a garage sale find ($1!) that was painted and the wooden planks on the wall that have collage photos clipped to them were a creation by my husband. My dear friend created the “Inhale, exhale” wall hangings with her amazing hand lettering skills. Everything in here is energetic to me, and I feel awake with the inspiring colors compared to my other rooms that I want to feel calmed by. Since it’s a smaller space, it works well too!
A note on my desk: I normally would never splurge on something as boring as a desk, but I kept going back to this as inspiration and couldn’t find something similar. It lifts and lowers, so it can be a standing desk as well. It also tilts, which is something I really wanted just in case I ever go after my lifelong dream of becoming an artist or take up drawing again more seriously :)
Over to my shelves. Milk cartons, you ask? A small glass cube with garbage in it? A picture of Grandpa? Why? The milk cartons are something I’m so proud of! I wrote the words on this Fit Milk carton for Darigold last summer, so naturally I have to display them (they’ve never had milk in them, if you’re curious!). And, the little framed garbage cube is a priceless memory of my business trip to Reno to help Fulcrum Bioenergy break ground on their trash to fuel refinery. If there’s any place to display your weird little work souvenirs, it’s here! The photo of my Grandpa is so special because he had his own business, too. He passed away a few years back but gets a spot in my office as an inspiring reminder that business ownership is in my blood.
