Hi, I’m Mel.

I’m sharing little ways that I find comfort and balance with a fast-paced, digital career. In a more, more, more society I hope you find retreat and inspiration to strike the balance, too.

My Favorite St. Louis Restaurants

My Favorite St. Louis Restaurants

As much as I love traveling, there’s a lot to see and do at home, too. Supporting my local community is so important to me and I love discovering what’s new in my neighborhood. I am inspired by those that chase after their passions and share it with others. It takes guts!

Without further adieu, here are my favorite local restaurants:

The Clover and The Bee, Webster Groves

The Clover and The Bee, Webster Groves

  1. Brasserie: fancy and French without feeling uptight. Go for the happy hour! My favorite menu items are the cheese grougeres, the bibb lettuce, french onion soup (don’t skip it!), chicken liver pate, and braised beef. Get the house wine - it’s a good deal.

  2. Pastaria: casual homemade pasta and pizza. Yum, this is spot is the best but be sure to get in line on Yelp or you’ll wait forever. My favorite menu items are the risotto balls, the mixed greens salad, brussels sprouts, bolognese and of course their homemade gelato for dessert. Great party spot upstairs, too!

  3. Thai Table: woman-owned homey authentic Thai. My faves are the crispy spring rolls, the lab kai and the pad thai.

  4. Boardwalk Waffles: hole in the wall waffles and ice cream shop. Stop here after you eat at Thai Table - it’s right down the street! This ice cream is delicious and the waffles are hot and fresh. If you get to to know them, they’ll do a half and half scoop on your quarter sandwich. :)

  5. Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery: literally just the best ice cream in the world. I’m not kidding, even their plain vanilla is to die for. Try the Salted Crack Caramel or the Midnight Pleasures. Everything here is out of this world.

  6. Union Loafers: bustling city soup and sandwich spot. Just a WOW for their little gem salad - do not skip this! The chicken and rice soup is delish, and be sure to ask for butter with the bread. Get in line on Yelp here, too - especially during the lunchtime rush.

  7. Mission Taco: fun tacos and great margs. Another place to make sure you get in line at! I love their street corn, guacamole, hot fried chicken and strawberry margaritas (even when it’s cold outside!).

  8. The Clover and The Bee: trendy, adorable brunch spot. I love the interior design! Be sure to try their yummy pastries and local teas.
