Hi, I’m Mel.

I’m sharing little ways that I find comfort and balance with a fast-paced, digital career. In a more, more, more society I hope you find retreat and inspiration to strike the balance, too.

My Favorite Desserts in St. Louis

My Favorite Desserts in St. Louis

Yum! Summer calls for dessert hunting in St. Louis. Eating local is one of my favorite ways to explore the city - especially when it comes to the best sweet treats. Save my list and consider it a bucket list for yourself. Each spot is SO unique and special!

  1. Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery. Picking a #1 spot was easy! Clementine’s is the best ice cream I’ve ever had in entire life. This is the spot I bring everyone that is visiting from out fo town - and I’ve even shipped their ice cream as a gift to clients. They loved it! Favorite flavors include Midnight Pleasures, Italian Butter Cookie and Salted Cracker Caramel…but really, I've never met a flavor there I didn’t like.

  2. Ices Plain and Fancy. The nitro ice cream parlor flash churns your ice cream using liquid nitrogen, making it a fun spot with a unique twist. I visited in the winter and enjoyed my Campfire S’mores treat.

  3. Boardwalk Waffles and Ice Cream. Freshly baked waffles, delicious ice cream flavors and a toppings bar…this place is my jam. They recently moved to a bigger spot in Maplewood with more booths, arcade games and a fun boardwalk themed atmosphere. This is a good family spot!

  4. Nathaniel Reid Bakery. Pure luxury! We are SO lucky to have Nathaniel Reid Bakery in St. Louis. If you’re looking for award-winning, high quality and beautiful Insta-worthy desserts, this is your spot. Their lunch is amazing, too. Try the macarons, the Ruby or the Veronique.

  5. Bailey’s Chocolate Bar. This is a really popular spot for dessert on date night. It’s crowded every time I go, but that doesn’t stop me (make a reservation if you can!). Their decadent desserts and chocolate drinks make a great night cap - but they also have small plates and food, too. This is your stop if you need a glass of bubbly, too!

  6. Patty’s Cheesecakes. Oh. my. gosh. are these sooo good. Available around town at some Schnuck’s locations - you’ll also find Patty at The Baker’s Hub and various farmer’s market / vendor events. The brownie sandwich, the cookie sandwich, it’s all amazing and has that homemade, quality taste.

  7. McArthur’s Bakery. This bakery holds a special place in my heart - they made our wedding cake! This age-old spot makes hands down the best cake in St. Louis. We’ve been back for birthdays, celebrations and “just because” treats for their fair prices and classic options.

  8. Sedara Sweets and Ice Cream. If you’re looking for something different - you’ll love these Middle Eastern treats. I first tried these at a farmer’s market locally and have been back to fill in my holiday cookie trays with these special delights. The baklava is out of this world and the Iraqi fingers are also a favorite.

  9. Snow Balls. I have to mention a neighborhood favorite! This no flairs snow cone stand is such a cute spot. Off the beaten path, this trailer is located in Memorial Park around 8600 Strassner Drive in Brentwood. They have every flavor you can think of and also serve up local cookies and cream slushies, too. Follow them here on Instagram for more details!
