Master Bedroom Makeover
A cozy, safe haven for resetting. Here’s the story on my slow but mindful master bedroom makeover.
Whenever I start adding or refreshing a new room, I always choose a few words to focus on so that I can ensure each item entering the room fits the “theme”. In this case, I had a Pinterest board with a few ideas and some old items that could work their way in with the goal of keeping it all cozy, calm and soft. With a blank slate and plenty of natural lighting, I slowly started piecing together this space to be a relaxing getaway to find rest - free from distractions. It’s the first bedroom I’ve had without a TV, which is difficult but is an important part of keeping the space relaxing (turns out, I actually love it now). Every time I refresh a room, I always take my time. It took about six months to find everything that would finish this space, but I would always rather move slow and gather items at a natural pace vs. one trip to Homegoods to force items that don’t feel 100% on board just for the sake of getting it done.
The best thing in this room? Hands down our Casper Mattress. We bought it almost 2 years ago at this point, and I truly miss it when we travel. It’s the best.
The end result is the most relaxing space I have ever called home. It’s a retreat that lulls me to sleep at night and gently wakes me up in the morning - an ease in and out of my busy and over-stimulating days. My favorite part of our master is a stroke up luck that wasn’t planned at all - the magical beam of moonlight that I’m lucky enough to have shining through my window (the one on the right side) sometimes. 100% good vibes.
