Hi, I’m Mel.

I’m sharing little ways that I find comfort and balance with a fast-paced, digital career. In a more, more, more society I hope you find retreat and inspiration to strike the balance, too.

Shopping local is one of my favorite ways to live simple and appreciate my community. It doesn’t require shipment and in many cases the money goes straight back to the maker who created it. The heart and soul of local products is like none other.

Here are some of my local favorites that I swear by. The quality is wonderful and the prices are all very reasonable when comparing to brands you’d find at the mall or with an MLM beauty brand (lots of uncharges, there!).

  1. Lark Skin Co's Rosehip and Citrus Face Oil: This doubles as a moisturizer and is a dry oil, so it won’t leave your face greasy. The smell is divine!

  2. Lark Skin Co’s Jojoba and Tumeric Facial Polish: Tingly, exfoliating goodness. A little goes a long long way! This was gifted to me and it’s one of my favorite face products I’ve ever used.

  3. Lark Skin Co’s Aloe and Willow Bark Vitamin C Serum: anti-aging that leaves you with a dewy, fresh glow. I use this before I put the oil on, but after I use a cleanser.

  4. Maven’s Mermaid Hair: My favorite leave-in treatment post-shower and the smell is so fresh.

  5. Maven’s Shampoo and Conditioner Bars (not pictured): These work and save on packaging! They go an extremely long way and they smell amazing, too. I’ve heard that conditioner bars “don’t work” for many but this one works really well on my long, often tangled and post-barre workout hair.

  6. Maven’s Bug Off skin stick is also great! I didn’t see it online, but in the store during warm weather months they often carry it. It’s an alternative and all-natural bug repellent and it smells like summer.

  7. ReNU Body Essentials Hydra Mist Facial Spray: I use this to set my makeup or at night for a fresh and hydrating mist. It also doubles as a pillow spray for a calm night’s sleep or you can spray it in your hair, too.
