Weekend Retreat in Scottsdale
Getting away is critical. Exploring a new place and eating new food, even just watching other people is the perfect way to come back home feeling revived.
Scottsdale is a stylish spot that is so easy to love. Everywhere we went was beautifully designed and everything we ate was delicious. Plus, I can really live the electric scooter life.

We started in Scottsdale for our long weekend in Arizona so we could do the relaxing portion of the trip first. Before we made our way there, we stopped at In-n-Out for lunch because believe it or not, we’ve never had it before. It lived up to the hype and it might even be better than Whataburger, my all-time fave. After that we made a very important stop at Walgreens because I left my toothbrush in St. Louis. Anyway, onward to The Scott.
The Scott Resort and Spa came highly recommended by my magical hair stylist Kim (Boldly Defined Beauty) - and although it was a splurge for my typical vacation spend, we were so in love with the lush design and upscale feel of the resort we felt like it was worth every penny.
Believe it or not, the best part about this place is the smell. The entire place smells like you’re surrounded by a flower garden. I don’t know where it came from or how it is maintained but the vibe here is so unbelievably relaxing and the colors are so easy on your eyes. Even the bathrooms were gorgeous.
The Scott has a late check-in time, but they held our bags so we could hang by the pool. No problem-o there. Once our room was ready, we checked in and got ready for dinner at Diego Pops, a modern mexican spot with delicious food. The tortilla soup was amazing and I wish I had more of an appetite, but flying always manages to keep me queasy into the first night of my vacations. Hence, the relaxing portion first.
On day two, we both woke up really early in the most blissful way - a bright shining sun, chirping birds and yes, the dreamy flowery smell. I was starving, though from the light dinner situation. After we officially got going, we located the nearest Lyft scooters and did a practice run, then zoomed down to Morning Squeeze for an outdoor breakfast. Such a cute spot! We loved it and I really appreciated the doggos that were also dining there to help console the fact that I miss my dog so much on vacation that it nearly brings tears to my eyes.
After breakfast, a quick scoot back had us at the pool by the time the bar opened and the rest of the day is history. We grabbed lunch right at the resort at the Canal Club, which we were delightfully surprised by. The food was so fresh, the menu options were all very enticing and we were back at the pool in no time. Drinks by the pool were so tasty. I had some sort of spicy jalapeño tequila spritzer that was bomb. If you’re celebrating or if you’re fancy, the resort has cabanas you can rent out for a fancy pool day (my cover photo on this post). I’m not going to lie, the cabanas were so cute, so Insta-worthy and I envied everyone who had one.
Before we headed to dinner at Farm and Craft, we enjoyed some bubbly at the outdoor patio at the Canal Club. There are so many places to sit and enjoy the resort and there isn’t any pressure to order anything - in fact we had to track someone down to order drinks which I didn’t really mind. I don’t like being pestered. You can really lounge around as much as you want.
Dinner at Farm and Craft and dessert at Sprinkles were both lovely. We weren’t too terribly hungry so we split a few apps at Farm and Craft and they were all tasty. We were easily able to find tables at the restaurants we visited although we were only 2 people - so if you are a bigger group, be sure to reserve in advance because the restaurants are pretty crowded. A few of them seemed all booked for the night, but we were happy with where we ended up.
After another quiet peaceful night of sleep, a quick breakfast at Modern Market (SUPER delish sweet potato avocado salad bowl situation!) had us on our way again to the next part of our trip - Sedona. I can’t wait to go back to Scottsdale - this was just the way to start a trip off on the right foot. If we had a little more time, we would have loved to check out Camelback mountain for a short hike. But this was the relaxing part of our trip after all.
